Peeing

We had a pretty exciting day in the Haggerty household today. Jon and I were going to Target and contemplated buying Cadence a potty chair. We looked and looked and decided that it wasn't the right time. As we're roaming around the store, Cadence does 'the squat' and has 'the look' on her face and says 'uhgt-oh butt butt'. She has been telling us 'butt-butt' when her diaper is full but she hadn't told us as she was going or just about to go, until that moment. Jon and I looked at each other and headed back towards the potties. We figured this was a sign that we needed to get the potty chair today. We picked one out and were on our way home. When we got home Jon opened the new potty while I changed Cadence's stinky diaper. When I was done, I asked her if she wanted to try to use her new potty. Since she was already un-clothed, I figured why not! She immediately got the hang of it and sat right down. Jon ran upstairs to get some batteries (yes her potty talks and sings to her). Cadence sat down a couple times and the third time, she actually went pee-pee in the potty! I was so excited, I'm surprised you couldn't hear me from MN. We looked at the pee, we talked about the pee and we jumped for joy!
Well, a couple hours later, Cadence wanted to try to sit on her potty again. She peed again, but this time is was all over the floor! I don't think I ever thought to prepare myself for a child peeing on the floor. I laughed pretty hard! Well, not even an hour later, guess what? Yup, she wanted to try her potty chair again! This time, with success!! I can't tell you how proud of her we are. I guess we thought that she was way too young for potty training. Don't get us wrong, we know it will be a very long road ahead but we are so excited and proud of Ms. Cadence!
So, for not wanting to buy a potty chair today, I sure am glad we did!!
**I'll post some pics tomorrow night as I have to shrink them before posting them**

Some updates

So, since I have been the biggest slacker lately with the blog, I suppose it's time to post some updates about our little munchkin and Jon and I.
Things have been a bit crazy with us and are just starting to settle down. As you may or may not know, Jon went out to Jersey in November. Then, my mom came for two weeks for a visit and Thanksgiving. Jon came home and I was busy trying to study for a gymnastics judging test. I realized that there was way too much information to learn in the little bit of time I had and decided not to take the test. I was stressing out about it way too much it was a good thing that I didn't take it.
Jon is trying to work full time so that we can give Cadence the experience of daycare for half days but isn't having much luck. We found a great home daycare and now are just waiting for Jon to find a full time 'gig'. Cadence is at the age where she needs to be around other kids and adults. She does very well when she is around other kids but isn't around them enough to grasp the whole social aspect. We can't wait until it works out.
Cadence just had her 18 month dr. appt. She is in the 10th percentile for her height, and 25th for weight. She doesn't like to eat very much but the doctor isn't worried about it, so neither are we. We think that her favorite foods are mac and cheese, toast/bread, and cheese. She loves her milk and often asks for juice.
She has sooo many words, too many for me to count. She's starting to put them together to form sentences. She will repeat almost any word that we say. She continues to use her sign language on the words she knows and we try to teach her new signs every week.
She is a very mobile 18 month old. She loves climbing on anything and everything. She's constantly trying to push our buttons and trying to do things she knows she's not supposed to. She's also started having tantrums. When she hears the word 'no' and she doesn't want to, she will start by stomping her feet then she'll fall to her butt and sometimes she'll lay down on her back and kick her feet and other times she'll roll to her stomach and kick her feet and bang her hands on the floor. It's hard not to laugh when she does it because it is so cute but also a bit frustrating.
I'm sure there's a ton of stuff I forgot but I'll post it when I remember.

Project

I have finished my third baby afghan...finally! Congratulations Shannon and Jason and big brother Owen! Evan Phillips is finally here. (Ok, Evan was born in September...I'm a little late).

Fun with Pudding

I made some vanilla pudding the other day for Cadence to 'finger paint' in. She had fun even though she kept saying 'all done'. The first picture is kind of cool because as she was clapping her hands together, the pudding obviously went everywhere and you can see it flying in the air. Ewwww, it's getting all over my hair.
This stuff is gooey.

Where's Cadence

A new game we have discovered...hiding behind the curtains.

Pics from my Mom's visit

Here are some pics from my mom's visit during Thanksgiving.
I think Cadence is ready to go shopping. All set with her phone in her purse! Here's my mom and Cadence doing the video cam with Papa. Cadence now says Papa when she see's Ted's picture. It's so cute.

Cadence thinking she's still an itty bitty baby. This is how we used to hold her when she was teeny tiny.
