Congrats Lil' Mama

Well, for once this is Jon doing this post. I just wanted to congratulate Holly on her new job!! She is now an Order Processor Supervisor at Norwood. She actually jumped 2 steps up!! She has applied for this position 4 times in the past with no luck, but this time, they offered it to her without even posting it, and without an interview. Cadence and I are so proud of her for her determination and hard work. God only knows where we would be without her. We love you very much. Congrats Lil' Mama!!!

Last chance

This year, we decided to help a friend who just got through battling thyroid cancer in the yearly Cancer Walk. The event takes place on 8/8/08 this year and I have no idea what to expect since I've never participated in an event like this before. (Don't worry Alissa, we're hoping to help you with the MD walk soon!) The Mississippi Shuflfe (officially named Relay for Life) represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported and that one day cancer will be elimiated.
Part of being 'on the team' is to help raise money to fight cancer. If you are interested in helping us to reach our goal, please let me know. You can also purchase luminaries that will be displayed all along the walking path and be lit at a 'kick-off' lighting ceremony. They can be purchased for a minimum donation of $5 each. If you would like to donate please let me know.

Thank you all for your support and we can't wait to see (most) everyone in August. Only 30 days away!!

A Stroll With Mickey

Here is a video of Cadence taking a stroll with her best pal Mickey. She still likes to 'cheat' occasionally and grab the couch, but she's doing pretty well. I think once she figures out how to stand up all by herself, without having to find something to pull herself up, she'll be on her feet a lot more.

AHHH!!

So this is what I get for telling everyone that Cadence can almost walk with no assistance. Tonight I got home and she was walking everywhere! I mean everywhere. No more in between things and stopping. She will now stop in mid walk and turn around. She's walking with things in one hand, she's walking and bending down, she's walking walking, walking! I can't believe it. I guess people are right when they say "it just happens overnight". It feels that way for us.
Jon did take more video today and he will post it tomorrow to give everyone an update!

Just one thing

I just looked at the video of Cadence walking on here and noticed that it is pretty outdated. She has practiced and practiced since then and has almost perfected the walk now. I will make sure to put an updated video on here once we take one. You'll be amazed at what a couple weeks can do.

Auntie Kasey we miss you!

This one's just for you!
By the time Jon and I get good at DDR, Cadence will be a pro!

Bathtime is so much fun!

Jon was giving Cadence a bath the other day and since she hates getting her hair washed, he thought it would be a good idea to 'have fun' with the hair washing part!! Cadence seemed to enjoy it herself :)
We figured that it was time to pull out the big girl bath towel now since Cadence doesn't fit in any of her baby towels anymore! This one does the trick perfectly! And, it's super cute!

Nice job Daddy!

I think it's so wonderful and cute that Jon is trying to learn how to put Cadence's hair up. The other night while I was at work, Jon sent me some pictures of Cadence. They were so cute! I got home and he told me that was his first attempt at putting her hair up. I don't know why but I think it's awesome! (Especially since Jon doesn't even have hair to brush)!!

Beach!

Cadence loves water and the other weekend my friend mentioned going to the beach. What beach is there around here? All of the beaches I know of are on the Mississippi river and I refuse to take Cadence swimming in that river! There's a beach about 25 minutes away that is very clean and clear. I decided to take Cadence. It was a blast, a lot of work with a 1 year old but fun none the less! Joy's kids were there and they love playing with Cadence. Kaylynne pulled her around in her little float and Cody tickled her feet! I wish I got pictures of that sight but I didn't bring my camera into the water. I did get some other pics though!

We loved it so much, I'm trying to make it a Sunday ritual with Jon, Cadence and I and whoever else wants to join us! Last weekend we took Jon with us.

Finally

Some video of Cadence walking. Keep in mind this was probably a month ago and she's gotten much better since!

Baking

Cadence discovered our cupboard with all of our Tupperware bowls in it the other day while I was doing some baking. I think that she wanted to help me.

Our little shopper

My friend Kelly and I took Cadence and her son Payton to the Mall of America to do some shopping last weekend. Towards the end of the visit, Cadence was getting super super crabby. Sher refuses to nap with people around. It is very very frustrating.

Anyway, the last store we went into was a bathing suit store so Kelly could get a bathing suit. I think that Cadence thought that she should have one too, so she started shopping around. Oooooh I like this one!

Sorry sweetheart, I think it'll be a cold day in hell before Daddy lets you wear a 2 piece like those.

No Title

I just love this picture for some reason!

More Zoo

At the zoo, there is a place called Como Town with rides for little kids. I couldn't resist this picture!

And, after a very long and hot day, our little one takes a much needed rest! Phew! That was a long day!

Hats

Jon and I get a little crazy sometimes. While at the gift shop, we saw some really cute hats. We were gonna buy one but decided to have them all instead. No, we didn't buy any of them. We just wanted to see what they all looked like on Cadence!

My Absolute Favorite Pic So Far

Fun at the zoo!

A couple weeks ago, we took Cadence to the zoo. This seems to be a yearly occurance as we took her there almost exactly a year ago with my friend Jilly! I think that Cadence seemed to enjoy it a little more this year though!

My friend Shannon, her husband Jason and their little boy Owen met us at the zoo.

This was a little playroom for kids. Cadence loved playing with all of the pretend food!!

Cadence Walking

If anyone wants to see Cadence walking, I urge you to email Jon and request that he put the videos on here.

Tea

Cadence got a beautiful tea set for her birthday. It came from my good friend Lindsey and her husband Chris. They couldn't be there to give it to Cadence so I did the honors. When I gave it t her, she started lauging so hard. She started to cry when I took it away from her. Thanks Chris and Lindsey, Cadence now LOVES tea parties! The night she got it, she had to have a tea party with her Minnie and her dolly! How cute :)

My Buddies

Here are some pictures of Cadence's buddies Kaylynne and Brock!

Here, Brock is telling Cadence all about his boo-boo on his toe. Cadence looks extremely impressed!

Kaylynne absolutely loves Cadence. Kaylynne knows just what Cadence wants to do.

And, Cadence absolutely LOVES Kaylynne.

More on the boo-boo. It's so facsinating!

Retirement

Great Gramma Bonnie

My really good friend Bonnie retired at the end of May..and I just realized it's been a whole month without her at work. I miss her soooo much she has no idea. She is a great person who knew what was good for her! I'm so happy that she was able to take this opportunity to enjoy life a little more. Her family threw her a retirement party a couple weekends ago and I was thrilled to go!

While we were at the party, Cadence had the opportunity to go down the slide...several times! She absolutely loved it. I took these pictures especially because she was signing 'more'. Jon would put her at the top of the slide and ask her if she wanted to slide again. Then, she would sign 'more'. It was so sweet!
